Description:

While FA1 focused on the fundamental biomechanics of specific joints, how to make temporary corrections and offered a framework to discover the best place to intervene in order to make long lasting system-wide change.

How to make such a change last? - FA2 aims to answer this question.

This is achieved by enhancing palpation skills, increased assessment precision and introducing novel interventions, all of which are taught during this workshop. The course includes a complete exploration of fundamental movements. Together we analyse various simple, everyday actions that can be incorporated into any movement analysis, however complex. We consider the wider picture of human movement in the real world, where gravity, momentum and ground reaction force influences every action we take.

What skills do we get from FA2?

FA2 allows you to intervene with greater accuracy and identify which system (myofascial, articular, visceral, neural) is creating a boundary to change. Discover if the system restriction is due to an articular system stiff joint, for example, at a facet joint. Gain greater specificity to discover if a restriction is at the right or left side, the superior or inferior aspect of that joint. Discover if a hip restriction emanates from the psoas or the viscera. Increase your palpatory accuracy to consider if when a poorly aligned hind-foot is a result of the tibialis anterior, tibialis posterior or fibularis longus. Further your accuracy by pin-pointing the height, depth and range of the specific muscle fibre.

Being able to identify the system restriction enables the use of the right technique, for the right person at the right time. Gain knowledge of joint stability and mobility that will lead to systemspecific interventions. Discover where an issue lies on the mobility-to- stability continuum with new functional and table based assessments. Discover, for example, how and why stress-testing a joint has specific impact on a clients cognitive belief of instability, motor programming and the impact on recovery. Learn novel manual intervention strategies that engage the client in a collaborative and profound process of change. Use a logical rational to understand when to use each functional manual, table based or hands- off exercise based interventions taught during the course.

You will develop your palpation, manual intervetions and capability of thinking in complex systems

Throughout the workshop manual and movement interventions shall be taught. Each intervention is specific to the task, the individual and the system impairment. Improve the interventions with greater precision and touch accuracy. Gain a range and quality of touch necessary for each system. Expand and improve your touch literacy throughout each new technique and assessment. This includes learning to use movement as a precise intervention. Consider when and how to increase task demand to improve threshold, resilience and robustness in training.

We work in a supportive environment

Together we explore, higher order questions. Always relevant to your own practice and supported by Born to Move's underlying principles of assessing, treating, and training each individual individually. Create, test and retest your own hypothesis using this logical framework all within a safe supportive and enjoyable learning environment. This clinically relevant workshop is predominantly a practical workshop, underpinned by research and within the biopsychosocial model. Become the 'go to' professional for a multitude of otherwise unexplained issues and performance deficits.

Please note, FA1 is a prerequisite for attendance in FA2.
