Description:

Functional Movement Analysis is a new biomechanically based approach to examining the state of the body, which uses dynamic postural and functional musculoskeletal analysis. This method allows the practitioner to find and treat the root causes instead of the symptoms, focusing on the client's whole body. Functional assessment is a logical, detailed examination of the entire neuro-myo-fascial system and its internal connections, which emphasizes the assessment of functions instead of posture. The treatments can be performed on a treatment table, standing or during movement exercises, and their goal is to improve the quality of movement and eliminate and improve inappropriate, asymmetrical loads, biomechanically unfavorable movement patterns, and inefficient movement execution. Thus, it provides an essential basis for understanding and accurately examining the functioning of the musculoskeletal system in both the prevention of musculoskeletal diseases and the rehabilitation process.
The assessment examines the effects of gravity and ground reaction forces in the context of real anatomy, as well as the metabolic economy of posture and movement. The method is based on the Integrated Systems Model (ISM) developed by Diane Lee, which helps to identify which body part is the starting point for treatment without following pain. This system is flexible, adaptable, and based on actual anatomical reality, not tied to protocols.
The course aims to develop the perception and assessment skills of professionals, to understand postural compensation patterns, and to help develop personalized treatment programs. Participants will learn to describe posture in a non-judgmental manner, distinguish the causes of compensation, and design effective treatment strategies.
The four-day course is designed to teach and understand the application of functional movement analysis. During the theoretical + practical training, we will learn to:
• Describe postural patterns without judgment
• Determine the starting point of biomechanical compensations of the musculoskeletal system
• Separate the root cause and the response
In addition, we provide you with:
- A certificate in Hungarian or English upon successful completion of the training
- Illustrated textbook and video materials
Who do we recommend it to?
During our training, participants can learn about Functional Movement Analysis, a holistic, integrated approach that focuses on function rather than posture, which examines the body's biomechanical and neuromuscular relationships in order to provide more effective and personalized treatments. We therefore welcome you to attend. It is recommended primarily for doctors, physiotherapists, manual therapists working with athletes or in musculoskeletal rehabilitation, who already have basic anatomical knowledge, with particular attention to the bone and joint system, musculature, and myofascial lines.
But who is Owen Lewis?

Owen Lewis is a renowned movement therapist, trainer and author, best known as the co-founder of the Born to Move program. His work is based on a deep understanding of functional anatomy, fascial systems and body awareness.
🎓 Professional background and approach
Owen's multidisciplinary approach combines philosophy, art, sports and anatomy, allowing him to explore complex relationships in how the body works. His teaching style is unique: through metaphors and interdisciplinary examples, he helps participants gain a deeper understanding, facilitating personal and practical application of what they learn.
📚 Educational activity
As part of Born to Move, Owen leads a number of workshops and courses aimed at developing movement and body awareness. One of his highlights is the one-day workshop "Understanding the Human Foot and Pelvis" which he co-led with James Earls. This training provides participants with an in-depth understanding of the anatomy of the foot and pelvis and their relationship to movement throughout the body.
📖 Book writing and publications
Owen is currently working on his first book, which explores the topic of the "core," integrating the latest research and his own experiences. The book aims to provide a new perspective on the role of the core in movement and stability.
